MUSIC
At Northway, we engage in music through a knowledge rich curriculum, which focuses on facts, skills and emotional connections.
We aim to engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and increase their confidence, creativity and achievement within this subject.
Music sessions provide children with opportunities to listen to, play, perform and experiment with music. These sessions are practical, fun and inclusive, enabling all children to engage critically with music and develop transferable skills.
Each music lesson focuses on a key musical skill. The children experience a range of musical styles, genres and traditions, as well as incorporating pupil's own music choices to compare and contrast against.
Throughout their years at Northway, the children are provided with opportunities to: use their voices expressively and creatively through singing; play untuned and tuned instruments; listen to live and recorded music; and improvise and compose their own music!
