Purple Class
Autumn Term 2024
Art
We love our art lessons and have been inspired by Claude Monet's artwork and style to create our own oil pastel and water paint art using small, thin strokes and learning how to blend and smudge. As we looked at some of his famous artwork we noticed how the images appeared almost blurry.
We have also been thinking about sculptures and using paper in different ways to create a range of shapes- curves, spirals, zig-zags...and created our own 3D forests and group collages linked to the 'Tree of Life'
Outdoor Learning
We love our weekly forest school session in our Enchanted Forest area. We love exploring and making cakes in the mud kitchen, learning how to whittle using willow, digging and having fun playing outside with our friends. We enjoyed creating our reindeer art and decorating pine cones to hang in the trees for the birds at Christmas and we absolutely love making S'mores on the campfire.
Our School trip to the Sea Life Centre
This term we were lucky enough to enjoy a day exploring and discovering a whole host of wonderful sea creatures. We were particularly fascinated by the Gentoo penguins, stingrays, the unusual jellyfish, gigantic Green turtles and seahorses. We got to touch a starfish and walk through a tunnel that made us feel like we were actually in the ocean. What a fantastic day we had!
Maths
Purple class really do enjoy their maths lessons and love to reach the star challenges. In addition to our daily maths lesson we have a morning mini maths session and an afternoon 'Mastering Number' where we can consolidate our learning and develop our fluency in counting and recall of number facts.
At home, we can access 'Doodle maths which is a fun way to keep practising our learning...we are very good at winning the doodle maths trophy during Friday's Celebration assembly.
